Why TYLEC?

This specialist certificate TYLEC – Teaching Young Learners Extension Certificate is designed for qualified English language teachers and is designed to equip them with the skills and knowledge to teach English to children and adolescents in the age range 7–16.

Trinity is accredited level 7 on the UK National Qualifications Framework and is recognized by employers of English Language Teachers globally.

Who can apply for TYLEC in Rome, Italy?

TYLEC courses are suitable for those with an initial teaching qualification and teaching experience. Applicants should have a level of English at CEFR high C1 / C2 level.

TYLEC in Rome, Italy. How is the course organised?

Face-to-face intensive course

It lasts 3 weeks and you will have over 100 contact hours.
Lessons run Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Course dates: June 21st – July 9th 2021

How much does the course cost?

€ 1,350 including Trinity fee

How is payment made?

By bank transfer, or at Globally Speaking by credit or debit card. € 500 deposit is payable upon acceptance to secure your place on the course. The remaining € 850 is due within three weeks before the course start date.  For bank details, click here.

What happens before I’m accepted on a TYLEC course?

Before you are invited for an interview, you will be asked to complete a written task. This will include a focus on language awareness as well as consideration of other issues related to teaching English. If this written task shows that you have the appropriate level of English and the potential to develop the skills needed to pass the course, you will be invited to an interview.

Do I need to have teaching experience before I start a TYLEC course?

If you decide to enrol for TYLEC – Teaching Young Learners Extension Certificate in Rome, Italy, you are required to have a previous teaching qualification (Level 5 EFQ) and some teaching experience is recommended.

What is the TYLEC course content?

There are two key units.
Unit 1 focusses on

  • The Learning Environment
  • TESOL Methodology
  • Guided Observation
  • Teaching Practice
  • Language Awareness & Skills

Unit 2 focusses on

  • Materials assignment

How is the course assessed?

Participants must pass the assignments for all unit components, including the materials assignment which is assessed by a Trinity moderator. There will also be observed teaching practice and a reflective written assignment.

TYLEC in Rome, Italy. What support will I receive?

Highly qualified TYLEC tutors will offer support to participants throughout the course. During the course, they will be available for consultation and at least one face-to-face tutorial.
Globally Speaking will offer candidates support in suggesting language schools worldwide who are recruiting qualified teachers.
